From Bomerano to Vettica Maggiore

This path is frequented by most who stay in Vettica Maggiore (Praiano) or Praiano, you’ll do just the first part of the traditional Sentiero degli Dei (Path of the Gods). Walking this trail from east to west is the best choice because the steps here are everywhere and only if you feel really healthy you should do in the other direction :D. By the way, we suppose you are already in Agerola, Bomerano hamlet, in Piazza Capasso. Leaving the main road behind you, between an hotel and a bar lay a side street, via Pennino (sign on the wall also indicates “Sentiero degli Dei”) walk down the narrow street for about 250m, then pass under the bridge and you’ll arrive to a paths junction, turn right and walk over the wooden bridge just in front of you, take the steps to the driveway, turn left and follow it. The road ends in about 450m and the trail begins with some going down steps. On your right side you’ll see the Grotta del Biscotto.

After 450m of the trail, past a sharp left turn, you’ll find a fork, keep left (the right is private property).

After 150m the rocky pinnacle you’ll arrive to Colle la Serra “T” junction (cross for the higher/lower option of the Path of the Gods) go left and then immediately right, after few stone steps you’ll get to another “T” crossroad with a sign indicating directions for Nocelle, Positano and Praiano, keep going right (if you go on left you’ll reach Praiano).

Less than 500m and you’ll find San Domenico convent junction, keep left on the gentle slope, after several bends (pay attention on exposed areas) you’ll reach a small natural arch, from here keep right and in less than 100m the convent will appear. The stairs just under the Convent of S. Domenico will bring you down of 200m of height, after a fountain will begin a pedestrian only road (also if you see some motorbikes, is a pedestrian only road 🙂 ), is via Croce, follow it, then keep the same direction through via degli Ulivi, go on up to via Costantinopoli crossroad, go downstairs up to Via Francesco Russo, choose right, few meters and you are done. In this place you have, in less than 50m, SITA bus stop, grocery, bars, tourism office and so on.

This path start from point A and finish to D in the map below.

Pay attention due to map and software updating the above info could be not precise. Take it as an generic overview.

First, this site is awesome and has a lot of great information, thanks!
We will be visiting the Amalfi coast on mid May and I have some questions about this PG.
I didn’t see anywhere the length of each route. In order to decide which route to take, it will be helpful to know their lengths.
I would like us to do the A to B but I am not sure if we are in a good enough shape. If we need to decide between C, E or D, do you have any recommendations as far as which route is nicer? can you recommend which one should be do?
It would be nice to know how long does it take in average to do each route for the average person.

    Thanks so much!

    • “Ciao Tal,
The easiest one is A-B, around 6km. If you are in shape enough to walk for about 3 hours it is ok. The others are more challenging, isn’t just lenght, which is roughly the same, you have to keep in mind elevation, C, D, E, (places in Praiano) are all places at about 50/80masl and A (bomerano ) is around 650masl and B (nocelle). You can easily understand that C, D, E are really steep paths. So, said that, first A-B, second C-B, third D-B.
